love can kiss your veins with magic lips.
I believe that love can hold the fragments
of spring together when April gets too cold,
when it rains in the morning and you have to
walk to the bus stopI believe in first kisses, in warm embraces under
the moon, in sunsets on the beach in July.
I believe in hand holding, in frost bitten fingers,
in sitting on porch swings watching the sky
dome the earth“what now?”
“we wait”
we wait for solace, we wait for wonder, we
wait to touch the face of time with our fingers
andopen our arms to life, embrace it as poetry, not
as facts and numbers, like history is written in
our joints and life is tattooed on our kneecapsI believe in knobbly knees, in quiet footsies
under the table at dinner, in tongues nestled
under tongues, in slow dancing to indie music
in the corner of a bedroom, staring at the windowI believe you will remember me when you look at
the stars
and I believe you will look at them with a twinkle
in your eyes, with an hourglass constantly flipping
over your heart.
